In life, there are a lot of people that may like you, but when you progress ahead in life, most people won’t share in your success. Some may even feel jealous of your success. It's sad, but that is the reality of life.

A simple example is those that stalk your Instagram stories day in and day out but never like your post. We are not talking about random creepers here, either. I’m specifically addressing the core followers, the ones who watch everything you post pretty much the second you upload it. And then when it’s time for the team to rally and validate your appearance with some emotionally uplifting likes, those people are nowhere to be found.

It’s hard not to notice 2,000 views on an Instagram story but 30 likes on a post.

This is not just restricted to Instagram stories but could include Facebook stories, Youtube videos, medium articles etc.

People stalking your Instagram stories but never giving you a single like when you post something. I feel it's brave and strong to finally call out the fakes who lurk in the darkest corner of our profiles, hating from afar.

You do your best to promote it, give free products to friends only to have their nose around about your business (asking you how you started it, how you make money, etc) but never following or even liking your page after the lengthy discussion.

You can start off on a clean slate and prove your worth through the value that you bring to the table. There are no preconceived ideas about who you might have been or what your past is like.

After all the goal is to step outside your comfort zone and pursue ideas, ventures and businesses that challenge and grow you as a person.

The goal isn’t to bond with family and friends over dinner, all of which are good things, but not the intended purpose. Remember you need not mix business with family if you don’t want to, especially if you're just starting to build something for yourself.

What I’ve seen most successful people do, is they build in silence and when they succeed, everyone shares their success, including family and friends.

That is the smart way.
