People Who Take Time To Destress: Perform Their Job Better
A clear mind is a pure delight.

“Good writing is clear thinking made visible.”
– William Wheeler, author
When you see an image like this woman, does your mind immediately go to meditation? Although meditation can be wonderful to clear our minds, it’s not for everyone. This article touches on several other ways you can improve your mindset.
I personally meditate but I know that some conditions can worsen due to meditation. This is why it’s important to check with your doctor. We must be our own advocates when it comes to our health.
I will be sharing the ways I use to clear my mind daily but especially before I write. Our mindsets are important when sharing articles with others. If you are writing to be an encourager yet you are in a bad mood, your readers will be able to pick up on that and your message might get lost in the rubble of despair.
Our habits will encourage others, or they won’t, but our stories and actions begin in our minds first. Do you need to do a bit of deep cleaning?
Write in a journal or create
For starters, I have journaled for 23 years and still counting. Being able to brain dump, work through emotions, plan, write a daily vision and my goals brings me a sense of calmness.
- I have recently begun watercolor painting. I’m planning on painting some hollyhocks this afternoon.
Painting brings me a sense of healing and accomplishment. It leaves my mind in a beautiful place. I sometimes wish time could stand still, yet it rushes by, and before I know it, a few hours have passed.
Spend time with family
Spending time with family can be tricky. Sometimes this will leave me uplifted. However, sometimes things will hit the fan and leave me frustrated. How about you?
Yet, what doesn’t kill us will make us stronger, so turning your back when others are struggling is not an option. However, you might want to spend some alone time before you begin writing a story to share or performing an important task at work.
On the flip side, spending quality time with family can be just the thing to get your creative juices flowing again.
Avoid procrastination at all cost
When I was younger, I might have been more of a procrastinator. Whereas maybe wisdom of how quickly time flies helps tame this behavior. Time is precious, and being proactive is always better than being reactive.
How can being on top of things help you to be a better writer or person? When we feel boughed down by many other things, our minds tend to wander from the here and now.
To write better, you must pour your all into whatever piece you are writing. The same goes for work. If you are at work, you should be at work. If your mind is wandering to your chaotic life, it will show up in your career.
Enjoy soft music near a lit candle
I love writing with music playing and a candle lit. I often write with a playlist of writing music. But I have recently discovered that a playlist of reading music playing softly with a candle has helped me crank out my words even quicker while being more precise.
Setting up your environment will never leave you feeling let down. A peaceful environment will create a smoother flow in your writing style. The same goes for your office away or at home. A calm environment is something that should become a high priority.
There is just something about music that soothes your soul, which in addition clears your mind.
Ready to write
When it comes to being a writer or any career, nobody was just born with their skills listed on their birth certificate. We are blessed to be taught our needed skills in school.
Seeking ways to better yourself doesn’t just take schooling. It takes a mindset first and learned behaviors to support your dream or interests.
If writing is something that you have always wanted to do, perhaps taking time to get your mind wrapped around the idea is just the thing you have been missing. Or if your writing has felt stale, changing things up is important.
Don’t let other people hold you back. Some people might say, who do you think you are? Writing is no different than any other career or talent.
The only way to know is to begin. It’s a craft that takes time, energy, skill, and passion but most of all, a positive mindset.
Don’t let others talk you out of your best stories because they fill your mind with negativity. Your mindset is your business! Will you try one of these tips? Or please share your favorite positive mindset tip in the comments.

I’m writing this to thank all the writers and readers I have met along this journey. Thank you.
I’m also want to thank Trista Signe Ainsworth for her supportive comments and publication, Thank You Notes.
