People May Think They Are Too Strong For COVID

Why someone would deliberately try to contract the dreaded COVID-19 virus is hard to understand. People have been dying from COVID every day for nearly two years as the pandemic continues. COVID is no respecter of persons. It can take rich and poor, famous and obscure, or anyone.

Most people realize that it is a serious illness which can cause lingering health issues and even death. They are willing to take the necessary precautions to try and stay safe from COVID and to stop the spread. That includes getting vaccinated, wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and sanitary measures. They will try to stay away from people who have COVID.

It seems like common sense to follow those practices to avoid getting COVID and to help keep others safe. There are people who will not comply to the safety measures which are recommended by health care professionals and government leaders.

A case of a Czech singer has been in the news after her family got COVID. She later died from it.

A popular Czech folk singer who deliberately caught COVID-19 has died, her son says. Hanka Horka, who was not vaccinated, caught the virus from her son and husband, who are vaccinated but still caught it over the holidays, according to BBC News.

The 57-year-old purposefully did not stay away from them and exposed herself the virus, which she caught. Horka posted on social media January 14 that she had recovered from the virus — but her son told BBC News she died two days later.

“She should have isolated for a week because we tested positive. But she was with us the whole time,” Jan Rek said of his mother’s deliberate exposure to the virus.

There are many people who are against the vaccinations and mask wearing. It is understandable that people do not want to be told what to do and do not like mandates. They feel that it should be a matter of personal choice, but the whole population becomes more at risk when people do not comply.

It is unfortunate that this woman in the Czech Republic and so many others have died from COVID. Putting yourself at risk is dangerous.

Her son blamed people who were anti-vaccine for his mother’s death. She was not vaccinated. He hopes that telling her story will help others choose to get vaccinated.
