People Are Being Hired To Impersonate Others On Dating Apps. Here’s What You Need To Know
The person you are chatting to online might be someone else.
As a writer, I’ve come across adverts for these strange opportunities on the freelancing site Upwork for two years now. Believe it or not, people want to pay others to manage their dating profiles.
Have a look at this advert below:

There’s so many things that made me cringe reading this advert. First, he’s ‘outsourcing’ his dating apps. He needs you to fill out a spreadsheet. He’s also looking for someone with ‘past experience.’ Ladies, please form an orderly queue to date this amazing man.
As deluded as he may seem, he’s not wrong to assume that other people do this as a job. Have a look at this one below where you're expected to give ‘daily reports.’

Is it all just creepy men?
I am probably making a big assumption that they are all men. However, there looks to be ladies doing this too, but for different motives than getting a few dates. Have a look at this one below.

Influencers are all about boosting their follower count. One easy way to do this is to swipe right at every Tom, Dick, and Harry on Tinder, then include your Instagram handle in your profile. These matches will then naively follow you on Instagram on the assumption that this person has any romantic interest.
Here’s another one below where you are a ‘Virtual Assistant.’

But of all the jobs on Upwork involving dating apps. I’ve saved the best for last. Check out this one below.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you good fortune in the weird and wonderful world of online dating!
