Penny. Cent. Dollar. A thousand words can be had for just one of them, but it begs the question of why? Who is to say what is worth more than another? All that matters is that our voices are heard without judgment or apology. Regardless of whether or not they’ll ever change anything at all, I am proud to be an artist in an online world where my voice still matters with or without a dollar sign attached to it. Penny. Cent. Dollar The symbols are arbitrary- they are what you make them be. No one can take this away from me. I know that I am capable of making my voice heard, and no matter how much money I get for it, or that it may be the only thing that has ever mattered to me, it will always be enough. Do you have a special friend? And do you know how many words there are in a dollar sign? They mean nothing at all unless somehow we give them meaning. I was so afraid of losing this moment. I was afraid to write about what was honestly on my mind. Because I was writing to you, it might have made you uncomfortable. But today, I am taking all of that back.

I want you to know that no matter what is on my mind, I will always tell you because those words are the most important that I have ever written. Poetry is my entire life. The one thing I could do without being afraid, without thinking twice about how much it might hurt someone else’s feelings without feeling like I might be judged too harshly for saying something honest.
