Jethro took a step backward and fell, heavily. In truth, it was more of a waddle than a walk: combining his gravity-defying kinetic energy and his feet, but propelled by a monstrous blast of blizzard wind.

The fragile snow bridge on which he faced Percival a few minutes ago gave way under the vibrations of his solid well-fed winter body and the force of the Antarctic vortex, swirling snow and ice in every direction. The noise was deafening.

Percival’s mind was still pondering the value of his Dell fellowship in Earth Sciences as he tumbled into the crevasse.
