Peace
It is still alive in the heart and soul of humanity
There is a calm; a stillness that transcends and bypasses all the chaos in the world.
It gently flows over the barriers in my mind that I have erected to protect myself from harm; barriers that not only prevent me from being hurt but stop me from embracing love in my heart.
Peace.
It is more beneficial than any resentment, and more satisfying than any act of revenge.
It is the energy of life coursing through even the coldest of hearts and the warring regions of the mind.
This thing called peace is not only the longing of my heart but of all people.
It is the spirit that moves us to love our fellow precious brothers and sisters.
Peace.
It is the ultimate goal of life and yet can be the most elusive.
Why, knowing how beautiful and expansive it is, is peace a rare commodity in our world?
Why are the walls still going up, and the minds and hearts of nations still at war?
I do not know the answers to these questions.
What I do know is that peace is still alive in the heart and soul of humanity.
Though it has been dormant, it is not yet defeated.
Though it has been drowned out by the noise of fear, it has not yet been conquered.
Peace.
It has eluded many a generation. But, in many parts of our planet, peace is entering the hearts of those who invite it in.
Let today be the day we remember. Let it be the moment that our hearts breathe in the peace that is available to us.
Let this be the moment that we accept the invitation that peace is offering, allow it to absorb us, and bring our hearts into alignment with the heart of our Creator.
Today can be that day.
The peace within you can become the peace in the world.
If you choose it. If you allow it. If you accept it. If you become it. If you share it.
