Pay Less Than $1.50 For A Bowl of Noodles in Malaysia
How about 30 cents for your coffee?

I first visited Malaysia in 2009. As a Canadian, I was shocked by the prices. Everything was so cheap!
For a frame of reference, Malaysian uses the Ringgit. One Canadian Dollar gives you about 3.28 Ringgits. Of course, this depends on the exchange rate.
My first encounter at a hawker stall left me dumbfounded. For less than 10 Canadian dollars, I can order a feast!
I kept checking the prices to see if my eyes decided to play a trick on me.
Not at all. My eyesight was sharp and accurate.
I could indeed spend a few dollars and exchange a whole table of delicious food and drinks.
Take this menu as an example. You can get a plate of chicken and rice for RM4!

At the malls, clothing and shoes were just as cheap. For about 10 Canadian dollars, you can take home a beautiful and unique top! Perhaps a cute skirt if you fancy.
The sizes fit me better, plus the designs were also very appealing. You can find many different styles to suit your taste.

Prices in smaller cities around Kuala Lumpur are even cheaper. It depends on where you go. If you’re spending your time in Kuala Lumpur, you can expect prices to be higher.
Most of the time, I’ll stay in Ipoh when I’m in Malaysia. The prices are much lower there than in Kuala Lumpur!
When I buy food in Canada, I can’t believe I have to pay about $15 for a decent-sized meal.
There are also tips and taxes to pay. That’s upwards of 45 Ringgits or more!
As I haven’t visited for two years now, I’m not sure how the pandemic has affected prices in Malaysia.
I can’t wait to go back soon.
