Exposure Introduces Medium Fiction Writer: Patrick S. Smith
“Who is this blithering fool Patrick S. Smith and why is he trying to write?”

- I AM Medium Fiction Writer: Patrick S. Smith — https://medium.com/@patrick.s.smith.author
- I am currently: A fiction writer, and a published Amazon author. I’m interested in collaborating with other fiction writers (sci-fi, paranormal, or fantasy anthology)
- I have been in love with fiction writing since: 1980
- Before Medium, my fiction writing consisted of: Just some random notes and thoughts running through my head.
- I started writing on Medium because: I wanted to see if I could write something that was good enough to get “published” and people would like.
- My favorite Fiction Genres to write about are: Sci-fi and fantasy.
- One of the biggest challenges to my fiction writing, since being on Medium is: Getting feedback. The likes are nice, but to hear what people like/don’t like and ways to improve are more important to me.
- My current fiction work-in-progress on Medium is: Two main threads really. I have two lists of short stories going. The first, which is my big one, “World of Olith” where I’m doing fantasy world building. Within it, there is a subset called “The Seeress” consisting of stories dealing with her. The other big list is “The Curio Collection” which is short stories of other genres.
- My next big writing-related milestone I hope to achieve, when it comes to my fiction writing is: Several really. I’d like to have sold at least ten copies of my first book (I’m at nine at the time of this writing). Get a copy of my book in my local library, which I’m working on doing. Complete and get my second book published. You might even throw in there getting that one crazy fan you have to call the cops on.
- I would like to have more support from Fiction Readers for the following two stories:
STORY #1 — Aran’s Compassion, A Mother’s Love — https://readmedium.com/arans-compassion-a-mother-s-love-part-1-681fd49b3958
STORY #2 — After a Ghostly Millennium, I Am Heard — https://readmedium.com/after-a-ghostly-millennium-i-am-heard-33f8c11c715f
In his words
All Medium fiction writers were asked to complete the above questionnaire, but just like most writers, at the end of the day, Patrick likes to do things his way, so here’s how he chose to describe his fiction writing life:
Who is this blithering fool Patrick S. Smith and why is he trying to write?
To start with, I am Patrick S. Smith. But please don’t confuse me with any other Patrick S. Smith’s that write, no need to insult them that way.
I’m a twenty year veteran of the Air Force Reserves and married with two daughters.
For over thirty years, I have had snippets of story ideas and poetic verses floating through my head. Some I captured, some lost.
Now I’m trying to take what I captured and what I can conjure up and polish them and publish them in some format.
I welcome all feedback, the good, the indifferent and the bad. Especially the bad — it makes me work harder to improve. If you don’t feel comfortable saying something out in the open, then by all means, send me a private note or e-mail.
And anyone who has a thought about trying to write and publish, do it. Even if it is something niche. If you don’t then no one will ever read your work. If you do write something, the worst thing that can happen will be no one will read what you write.
Patrick S. Smith is a retired vet venturing into the world of poetry and short stories on Medium. If you like or dislike it, please feel free to leave a comment. I can be followed at The Writings of Patrick S. Smith
Editorial Comments:
Exposure is so pleased to have such talented writers and authors like Patrick to join our ranks. As the directory slowly but surely begins to fill up with names, it’s my hope that fiction readers see the light being shinned on these rising stars.
But more than that, given the kind of writing skills that authors like this one have to offer, I’m also hoping that other fiction writers start getting more familiar with one another, here in the Medium community.
You can subscribe to Exposure Newsletter’s email and receive weekly updates about the status of Patrick and other fiction writers, as they continue to progress.
