Patient Trump Is a Win for Science
Trump tests positive and it makes a real case for Covid-19
The last person you would think of testing positive for Covid-19 is the President of the United States. Not because the President is immune but he repeatedly has not taken the coronavirus seriously and even mocked people who wear masks. But on Friday night, the news of Trump testing positive, is all over the news and on Twitter, as the president himself tweeted.

Trump has been criticized not only for his handling of the pandemic but he was the most visible enemy of science. When science wasn’t supposed to be the enemy, but the coronavirus.
Remember when Trump said this about bleach?
Trump was dismissive about the virus which already killed more than 200,000 Americans. Now he is in the hospital where science will do its work because unlike Trump, science has no bias.
The ramification of the president testing positive in an election year is something I would leave to the political pundits.
Back to Science
The president has been given an experimental medical treatment, Regeneron. He was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
President Donald Trump was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center early Friday evening less than 24 hours after news broke of his Covid-19 diagnosis — CNN reports.
I will not speculate as to the choice of an experimental medical treatment. It only confirms one thing, Patient Trump isn’t asymptomatic. This is why people who test positive should monitor any symptoms.
What is the antibody cocktail Trump received?
It’s a combination of two antibodies directed against a key protein of the virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2. They bind to a region on the main surface spike protein that helps the virus attach to a receptor on human cells called angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2). — Sciencemag.org
Unlike Trump, science has no bias
We know that the president will be in the best possible care. And like many, I wish him recovery. In his 14 days of quarantine, I hope he sees science as an ally, not an enemy to quash.
And if you are a Republican, please do wear a mask.
