Passing the kindness forward.
Because supporting each other is what Medium’s all about.
Guys, I’ve had a HORRIBLE week. Everything that could go wrong did and I’ve had sooo many moments where I had to cover my mouth with my hands to keep the screaming in. It’s been really, really hard.
I’ve had long hours at work so I’ve not been able to write or engage with Medium that much. The non-engagement meant my stats went from thousands of people reading, responding and liking my work to about 450.
Ughhh. The pain! It’s so hard to be relevant and present on Medium when we all have so much to do! It’s so hard to juggle a full time job with wanting to write, respond and engage on Medium. I don’t know how other writers do it — and do it so well!
But the bottom line is, I love to write. I think about writing all the time. Complimenting my love of writing is my love of reading. Third and not all ‘last’ is my love of connecting to others. Medium is a brilliant platform for making incredible connections with other awesome humans who love writing, too. So blessed.
So you can imagine what an absolute blessing it was to get an email notification that Francisco Iglesias had listed my story on his “Top 5” list and had promoted it on his page, encouraging others to read it. Francisco manages an amazing page where his goal is to promote other writers. It’s so uplifting and is just what a writer needs! Thank you so much, my friend — for being there when I was down and picking me up by believing in and promoting my work. I had such a tough week, so seeing my story on your awsome lists has encouraged me to not give up. YOU are the reason for the determination in my heart to keep going. I can’t thank you enough for that.
Imma pay it forward (or back? I’m old and very confused) by posting a link to Francisco’s “Top 5 Recommendations” page here — please check this out when you can, these stories are awesome and well worth the read:
I LOVE when I see writers promote each other’s Medium posts/articles.
I think if we dont repost things that touch our hearts and make our souls light up, then we’re doing it wrong. For so many of us, Medium is our favourite place to be and we’ve made connections with like-minded, incredibly talented writers. Part of our job as writers should be to appreciate and promote each other’s work, right?
So yeah, check out Francisco’s pages when you can, he’s got a good heart, that one.
For anyone else who’s had a crappy week — keep going. Keep writing. Keep being the awesome person you are and if I see your story, you can bet I’ll give you 50 claps and leave an encouraging comment to bless you.
