Summary

"Passing By" is a reflective flash fiction story that contemplates the transient nature of life and the individual's quest for meaning amidst the vastness of time.

Abstract

The narrative "Passing By" delves into the existential musings of life's fleeting nature against the backdrop of the unchanging celestial cycle. It emphasizes that regardless of personal achievements or failures, life continues its relentless march forward. The story suggests that while the Earth orbits the sun and the "bright star" (presumably the sun) rises and sets, people are merely passing through, each assigning their own value to their choices and existence. The author posits that life, unlike time, is finite and encourages readers to consider the importance of seizing the moment and not letting life pass by unexamined or unlived. The narrative concludes with an invitation for readers to reflect on their own lives and the choices they make, as well as a call to action to explore more of the author's work and engage with them on social media.

Opinions

  • The author believes that life's value is subjective, determined by the individual's own perceptions and choices.
  • There is an underlying sentiment that people often conform to safe, predictable paths, despite a yearning for more significant experiences.

Passing By

A Flash Fiction Story

Earth rotates; orbits the sun. The bright star rises and falls. And people pass by. Working, enjoying, moving through meaningless life with the purpose they created for themselves.

Whether one lives or dies, succeeds or fails, the Earth still rotates; orbits the sun. The bright star still rises and falls. And people still pass by.

Whether one seeks entertainment or has the drive to push ideas forward, the Earth still rotates; orbits the sun. The bright star still rises and falls. And people still pass by.

However one makes choices, the Earth will still rotate; orbit the sun. The bright star will still rise and fall. And people will still pass by.

Life will go on because time forces it. And the choices people make are only valued based on the value they themselves put on it.

But life isn’t limitless like time is. Life is time-sensitive.

Yet people hesitate, choose to run a safe path trying to accept it though they secretly want more.

If life is limited, and choices have no real value but your own, why let life pass by?
