Party Hearty
06 March 2021 Saturday Poetry Prompt: party on

Party — an ancient word derived from a Neolithic symbol etched onto A cave wall somewhere in East Anglia, England — meaning, to lose one’s sense of time and space. To dwell, not on the past — those moments that preceded one’s entry into the aforementioned party, but only on the minutes that start ticking when the spirit loosens, the mind unhinges itself from reality and the body begins its rhythmic journey away from pain and towards a carnal embrace wherever it might be found.
On — a small word of great import, that hints at the everlasting nature of one’s interest in not being bored, sullen or too intimately mated with the mundane. Instead, directing one towards the unknow. The soft landing at the end of the maelstrom called — daily life. That place where the soul is given respite from the vexing hordes of distractors imposing their version of a life well lived.
Thus, when Party-On is married, in a blissful coupling of yin and yang, a new moment is conceived and delivered upon all of us. A moment of sound and fury; of heated air and intoxicating wisdom.
Of light feet and lighter heads prevailing and carrying us to a better place. A gentler space where peace is gifted at the gate and keys — that unlocked doors we grew tired of opening, are placed in a vessel to be guarded and eventually left behind.
My version of the prompt forward to me by Tree Langdon and J.D. Harms. Party-on, is an age-old concept surviving many generations and interpretations. What is yours?
