My cousin Rohit is 25 years old but he lives with his parents because he has a tendency to blackout unexpectedly.
A friend of mine carries a heavy box to keep his medicines which are literally his permanent life support. He lugs it around like a permanent briefcase on which his life depends.
My aunt who is a strong 50-year-old woman was highly impacted by COVID19 she was on oxygen support for a month.
What’s common in these three? …Diabetes.
Diabetes is due to lowered blood sugar when people have naturally low insulin in their bodies. They depend on insulin injections
Do you know how painful it is taking an in injection every single day? Do you know how expensive these injections are?
My Indian Research team from IISER Bhopal has come up with a way to tackle this problem.
PROBIOTIC PILLS.
Probiotic pills have bacteria that is good for your gut and will be tweaked by us so that they can help improve insulin levels in the blood. Basically diabetes patients will no longer need to depend on external insulin. These pills with bacteria will help produce natural insulin inside their body.
We are on a mission to help the 460 million diabetes patients replace their expensive and painful insulin injections with cheap and easy to use probiotic pills.
But we need funds. In order to work on this project and present at iGEM, an international competition set up by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to work on biology-based ideas/solutions to local problems, we need your help!
