Parents: It’s Fine When Your Child Plays With Toys For Under Ten — No Matter The Age

People always judge other people. I hate that. I don’t like that at all, to be honest. There must always be a reason to complain or devaluate others.

I have been asked a question on Quora:

My family thinks I am too childish. I still sleep with stuffed animals and I play Legos with my 7-year-old sister. Am I being too childish?

This is my answer:

Even parents and family members doing that with their children. When parents have a vision of how their children must behave they try to raise their children that way. When children are not acting as the parents had in mind, the parents could do things to their children, or tell their children they are not like they have expected.

When your family thinks you’re a child because you’re playing Lego with your 7-year-old sister, isn’t normal. I don’t know the age gap, but I think it is normal to let your sister feel loved. She needs to feel loved too, like everybody else. Every child’s right, in my opinion. My 12-year-old daughter (she is in high school right now) plays with her 7-year-old sister. You feel love for your sister. You give your love to your sister. Sister-love. That feels amazing! I have four sisters. That is a very good thing. Look at how she reacts to you when you play with her. Does she light up?

What about sleeping with stuffed animals? Don’t even give a damn about what others telling you! That is what you like, it comforts you. Me too. I am sleeping with my stuffed dog I got from my late grandmother. She gave it for my 9th birthday. I sleep with it every day. It reminds me of her and it comforts me when I am sad. Guess my age. I am almost 32 years old. So, don’t worry. If you love it, do it!

It is not that you’re too childish, it is the love for your sister and the comfort you want in life. You show it all this way.

Seriously, it makes me so angry when people do this to others! Perhaps, it is just jealousy or they don’t have done this in their past.

I should say, don’t give ever up!
