Parenting Is a Glorious Mess
All in a day’s work
Parenting is glorious and messy. As parents, you’ll do things you’re proud of, and you’ll do things you’ll beat yourself up for hours later. Remember, you’re human, too; you make mistakes. Give yourself the grace to err, and remember to acknowledge your mistakes and ask for forgiveness.
The good, the bad, and the ugly can all be wrapped up in one single moment.
“When did our three-year-old learn to write her name? And why-oh-why did she have to do it with a permanent marker on our new just-installed expensive white cabinets?”
Parenting is beautiful and rewarding. But it’s also hard and unpredictable. If you care about your kids and are present as much as possible, that’s the best you can ever give them. You’ve got this; you’re doing great! But leave white cabinets and cream couches for when they grow up.
