Pappy, I miss you

Thanksgiving is coming up next week, and I wanted people to know how this day is now, more than ever, a personal connection to me.

My great-grandfather Norman passed away on Thanksgiving day last year. Ever since that day, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him.

I know that it is a tradition for some that each family member says what they are thankful for. To me, I am most grateful for knowing my pappy. This year is going to be difficult without him.

He was not a believer in fighting and was a loving family man with two children and five grandchildren. He was the light in everybody’s darkness.

From Thanksgiving on, I know he will watch over my family and me, and I hope to make new Thanksgiving memories in his honor.

I hope everybody has a good Thanksgiving and gets the time to spend with the people you love and the closest to the most.

Even though these past years were dark, nothing else made me happier than spending them with my family.
