Palm Shadows
Haiku and commentary

the romance of palms
stand tall against the sunshine
love between shadows
When I moved from Philadelphia to Southern California, I was mesmerized by the beauty of the Palm Trees. I kept looking at them, particularly when they waved and danced on windy days.
They are loaded with symbolism. They're a symbol of prosperity and peace. They are one of the trees that people idealize and use in religious rituals, like on Palm Sunday. It is also referenced in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.
But for me, it's about love, the beach, and sunshine. I feel protected around them and at peace. It's a tree I want to see on a tropical vacation. Because when I look up at them, I feel relaxed as if I'm away from it all.
When I reach Nirvana, I'm sure palm trees will be there with me, celebrating my achievement.
I am a proud tree hugger, a tree worshiper. And the palm tree is my spirit tree.
Do you feel the same way, and do you have a spirit tree?
