The fishermen, positioned as if in a painting, along with a turreted house on the riverbank, stir the writer's curiosity about the inhabitants and the history of the area. Despite the peaceful scene being marred by modern electrical cables, the writer manages to capture the moment in a photograph, expressing a wish to digitally remove the cables to preserve the timeless quality of the view.

Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle

Fishermen three, on the river Tennessee!

Setting: Decatur, Alabama, Tennessee river.

This is the tableau I glimpsed from my hotel window first thing today morning. I was still half-asleep, and for a moment, I thought I was viewing a painting.

The light filtering through grey clouds had tinted the scene with muted browns and the palest aquamarine. But what stood out were the three fishermen, dramatically arranged as if for a painting. One sitting while framing a diamond of water between his lower limbs. A second standing upright. And a third partially hidden by tree branches.

The turreted house on the extreme left of the picture captured my writerly interest. Did the fishermen live there? And what was a solitary riverbank mansion doing in this heavily industrial part of Decatur?

I snapped a photo before the scene could change.

(Although, I wish I could erase the electrical cables in the picture.)
