Our Souls in Summer

A Sonnet

Photo by Jonas Weckschmied on Unsplash

What is Summer if not for lovers new?

Two sweat covered bodies together lay,

Their heat and passion cooled by morning dew,

As they bid farewell to the last spring day.

*

No plans to be made for the future here,

Too busy falling in love at first sight,

Sunset over the lake shines crystal clear,

As humid day turns into pleasant night.

*

Endless days of love, laughter, joy and sun,

Caution thrown with haste to the gentle breeze,

As two carefree souls slowly become one,

Young lover’s flame immune to winter freeze.

*

Without warning these carefree lovers find,

That summer wove souls forever entwined.
