Did I abandon you

or you me?

When did we grow so far apart?

Your suffering layers upon mine

and pains me deeply

Our separateness

this void

Can’t we just embrace

our Oneness?

Who knows better

or ‘is’ better?

and whose place is it to decide?

Can’t we just love one and

other?

I have so many questions

which seem destined

to remain

unanswerable

whilst

My heart aches

with your suffering

which surpasses even my own now

If only I could find a way

to ease your pain and,

in doing so,

ease my own

conscience
