Our Past Mistakes Haunt Us

We can’t change the past, but we can move forward into the future

IT’S JUST INESCAPABLE.

That feeling of dread that we have after committing a mistake we know will stick with us for quite some time after is one of the worst feelings in life, but it’s a feeling that one must deal with on a somewhat regular basis.

No one likes making mistakes, but it’s key to remember that being able to learn from our mistakes is one of the best skills a person can have, and sometimes we forget that making mistakes is okay.

While in a relationship, whether it be platonic or romantic, it’s essential to never compare our past relationships to our current one(s), and that’s one of the most difficult parts to remember.

It’s not easy, that’s for sure, but it’s a skill that will lead to both a lengthy and healthy relationship if it can be done.

Holding onto our mistakes and letting them hang over our heads like thunderous clouds, threatening to deafen over us and release their wrath, is not healthy for you or the person involved. Our past mistakes haunt us, sure, but recognizing that every person and resulting relationship is different allows for those mistakes to not be our downfall.

We can learn from our mistakes without letting them define us, and that’s a beautiful human quality.
