Our Oceans Are Dying
All life on earth will die with them
Our oceans are dying. All life on earth will die with them. 70% of all of the oxygen that all life depends on is generated from plankton. The other 30% of oxygen-producing plant life is being harvested by humans without regard to the consequences. 90% of the global fish stock has been wiped out.
Every piece of plastic ever manufactured still exists. A small fraction may have been recycled. But not eliminated. Where is this vast majority? Mostly in the oceans. Seabirds, saltwater mammals, most fish, and our coral reefs that are the birthing grounds of much of sea life are dying and or becoming extinct.

Approximately 500 million plastic straws per day are used in America. Why? Have Americans become so lazy that they can’t lift a cup or glass to their lips? This is not just an American problem, though by far they are the worst of the instigators. Some cities have banned the use of plastic straws in their restaurants. It’s a start. Like trying to ride a surfboard from the Arctic Ocean to the Antarctic Ocean.
Humans, in their conceit and ignorance, fail to realize that most life on Earth could be just decades from extinction. Perhaps some single-celled organisms will survive. There have been five extinction events on the planet. The worst of them was the Permian-Triassic Extinction 250 million years ago when 96% of marine species and 70% of land species died off.
Why will the next one be one hundred percent? Unlike the five previous events, all the plant life and sea life that generates the oxygen all life needs to sustain itself is dying. Rapidly. Soon to be beyond repair. And what is the most advanced species on the planet doing about it? The vast majority just shrug their shoulders as scientists continue to warn of the consequences of their ignorance.
The fact that the fossil fuel conglomerate that has been running the world for over a century isn’t helping. They buy and control politicians like a small girl playing with her dolls. Unless this changes tomorrow humanity has zero chance of making the changes necessary to reverse the course of what will be the last extinction event for homo sapiens.
All signs are leading to the extinction of humanity. More than twice as many humans live on this planet than in 1968. Birth rates are now falling rapidly, and the quality of human sperm has degraded drastically.
None of this takes into account the massive loss of life that will occur from wars. 70% of the global population lives along the coasts. As sea levels continue to rise coastal citizens will need to move inland to find fresh water and food sources. It will become a fight for life. The entire world will be at war with its own nations and neighbors. Governments will collapse on a global scale. Along with banking systems. Knowledge of farming will have more value than millions of worthless currencies.
Scientists that have been studying the melting ice sheets in the Arctic and Antarctic are now discovering that these changes are warping the Earth’s crust.
While writing this article I have come to certain conclusions. One is that no matter the amazing work and fact-based conclusions from amazing scientists the vast majority of people on this planet would rather wallow in their ignorance and refuse to change their lifestyles.
Two is that in the end the most intelligent species to have walked this planet has chosen to ignore what is right in front of them and continue their lives of overindulgence.
Three is none of us this may matter. Mother Nature will take care of her own. All of her own. If one species needs to be eliminated to accomplish this so be it. Mothers make tough decisions every day.
