Politics Aside

our planet rich in blue and green and turning on perfect axis

resisting our efforts to rule, to mine, to excavate all she has to give, and beyond what is healthy for her

she is resilient

but she is not politics she does not care which side of the stage you stand on or which color hat you wear

she only cares that you are a responsible and caring tenant on this space she rents to us for free

she gives until it hurts then rages in storm and upheaval to those of us who hear her to anyone who will listen

take off your hats put down your weapons of political destruction

and love her, our home our life. Respect her boundaries and help her to heal

put down the rhetoric put down the anger and senseless violence over resources that are hers to give — not ours to take

together our efforts are many for her, they are everything

for the walrus that plummets to death on an over-crowded shore… for the polar bear that starves… for the extinctions ticking off like the second hand of Earth’s clock… for the depleted soils and littered oceans… for skies that carry our filth to shade the sun…

together our efforts could be many political agendas aside — humanity, one.
