Our Love Spreads ‘Round
Six Word Photo Story Challenge: Freestyle
Love notes inside a cardboard box.
When I moved in with my partner recently, I found this drawing inside a box that had been in the back of my closet. I turned it over and read:
To: Mommy Dear Mommy. I miss you very much. The picture I drew was about you and me going to a writing group together and we have notebooks in our hands. I drew a heart because our love spreads round. From: Emma
I didn’t write down the date my now nearly 22-year-old daughter penned this note and drew this picture.
I may have been away at a writing retreat in New Mexico. Or just at my writing group for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. I had forgotten all about this little gem that has survived five moves and boy, am I glad it has.
My daughter can no longer show her age on her fingers (not even when she adds her toes). It is she who now looks down on me, as she has exceeded me in height. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the love we feel for each other.
It’s the kind of love that spreads ‘round.
Much gratitude to Mary Chang Story Writer for the inspiration.
