Our Love for MyLibooks
How these books have helped my child learn to read
As more parents have been homeschooling amid the pandemic, we search for resources that can make learning fun, easy, and enjoyable. MyLibooks has been able to deliver on it all, positively impacting my 4-year-old, Kaylee.
MyLibooks are a series of personalized books created for early emergent readers. These books have made Kaylee excited to read!
When Kaylee first received her books
I will never forget the look on Kaylee’s face when I told her that her “surprise” had arrived — I had been gearing her up since I got the email that they were on the way! I pulled them out from behind my back, her mouth opened wide, and the first thing she said was, “That says my name mama!”
She was thrilled to see her name on the front covers of the books. Then, she said, “That’s me!” I told her she could color them in and she was even happier!
Parent Perk #1: There are 8 different avatars to choose from, and they are presented in the book in a white background. Your little one will have fun coloring themselves in, whatever color they’d like (don’t be surprised if it’s blue), and color their hair as well.
Your child can color in the backgrounds on the pages to their liking. Your child can also choose the color they’d like their clothes!
The coloring aspect makes the book interactive and engaging in itself — no convincing your child to interact.
Kaylee’s engagement with MyLibooks
She asks me for her books every day since they are in a safe spot, up high, in the house. Kaylee will venture off into many rooms in the house, open the books up, and read independently. It’s fantastic as we only received the books about two weeks ago!
I’ll read with her every day, and through repetition, she learns to recognize the words on her own. I’ve made index cards with the sight words on them, which helps reinforce the words in a different form.
Parent Perk #2:
The books are complete with sight words. Sight words help provide clues to the context of sentences. Using phonics for early readers isn’t always as helpful, but using sight is.
Recognizing the sequence of letters in a word to read a word helps your child progress.
These books make it easy for you to teach your child to read!
The books encourage Kaylee
Whenever we get to the end of the book, I read the last page to her. Her reaction from hearing, “The end. You read it,” is the funniest part of the entire interaction with the book. Once Kaylee was done with her first book, she couldn’t wait to read the next for our big celebration.
Kaylee will jump up and down and squeal like a little piggy in excitement! We all join in to celebrate her accomplishment.

Watching your child learn how to read and celebrating their win, along with the book responsible for this significant milestone is incredible!
It’s a heart-warming feeling and the memories you are sure to treasure.
Your child will always have these books as a keepsake and you can keep one book in the series for yourself!
MyLibooks prompted discussion questions
The very last page of the book includes “discussion questions.” Some examples of these questions include:
“Would a rat sit next to a cat?” “How would you feel with a rat on your lap?” I remember asking Kaylee if a rat would sit next to a cat, and she said, “Yes, mom they are best friends!” I had a good belly laugh with her response.

Engaging with your child’s natural ability to be silly is another uplifting benefit of MyLibooks.
It reinforces a light-hearted attitude when it comes to reading and is another dynamic the book brings to the fun of reading.

They have also created FREE site word printables! The printables include puzzles, games, cut-outs, writing and drawing pages, and coloring activities. These worksheets complement the books perfectly! Kaylee has never gotten bored and she is learning a lot very quickly.

The customer service I have received from Estelle at MyLibooks has been impeccable. She is very responsive, kind, and has your child’s best interest at heart. She has followed up with me several times to ask me how Kaylee is doing. She goes above and beyond!
Kaylee is very protective of her books. If her older sister or younger brother touches them, you can hear her, “No, these are my books!” It’s a joy to see my four-year-old take care of something as precious as a book and these books are getting Kaylee’s love!
Estelle has witnessed the magic of these books, as have I and Kaylee.
