Our Government is Gaslighting Us with Subtle Lies & Twisted Half-Truths
This is a brain dump of the frustrations many have about how we’re lied to and people eat it up and stand by their party regardless
Let me start by saying that I am completely against anything republican because their agenda is drastically opposite of what I think is what’s best for this country. So far, I can’t even stomach what 99.9999875% of all republicans, conservatives, and libertarians have in mind for the United States, the economy, or the manner in which they plan to govern the people.
There is no way I can envision ever voting FOR a republican. Having said that, I often struggle to find a candidate that inspires me to vote for them. Especially democrats. They nearly all reek of corruption. Most smart folks can see how most democrat candidates running for re-election are covered in the disgusting evidence of decades of corporate influence. They have a rancid staining around their mouths from years of sucking from the corporate tit and a strange gait by obvious gait from being prostrate in the midst of their corporate donors and American Oligarchs. I can’t unsee the filthy cloud that looms over their heads from the past 20–30 years of undermining the people, destroying democracy, all for the sake of their pro-corporate positions, their own pocketbooks, and policies that hurt the people and benefit corporations.
The brief and rare glimmers of hope that have sprung up in the form of the AOC’s and Bernie Sanders has, well, been far too few and much less promising than I had hoped. The two-party system has effectively made sure there is no serious threat to their rule forever.
Ok, now that I have got that out of the way… here is something intended to wake up a few more left-leaning Americans and hopefully dispel myths about the Democratic Party (and our government).
Propaganda vs the Truth
How my April Fools Day started…
President Biden’s Twitter team continues to post false and misleading claims to fool low information voters. It’s apparently working. There seems to be more dumb people in both parties than ever before.
We all know the economy sucks right now. But they are telling us it doesn’t. They are gaslighting us!
America is not experiencing a historic recovery. Historic bullshit — yes!
For example, saying the economy is at a 50 year high is a flat out lie. You can’t have historic poverty, historic inequality, historic inflation, historic high costs of living, AND historically great economy.
It doesn’t work that way. Inflation has sucked the life out of any and all gains in wages or earnings over the last 3 years. And it’s getting worse every day.
He also tweeted that unemployment was at record lows and the jobs report shows historically high numbers of new jobs. Again, those are misleading and false. The BLS alters the way they calculate the unemployment and new jobs reports, and they don’t count anyone who has been looking for work longer than 12 months. That means tens of millions of people who are not working are not counted.
In a recent Tweet from Biden he said that “new” unemployment claims are lower than before the pandemic. It’s misleading and disingenuous because so many people are no longer eligible to claim unemployment because they have been looking for longer than 12 months. Also, many people lost their unemployment benefits because Biden refused to extend those who were working as independent contractors or gig worker coverage, so they can’t file a claim either.
The jobs report is a fudged up number contrived from all manner of BS. It’s not even an actual count — it’s a survey of known businesses, not new businesses, or all employers. It’s a survey that roughly tries to be a measure but it falls short of reality. Yet the president is claiming his administration is responsible for huge gains based on cooked books in the BLS.
Despite claims by Biden, it’s not his presidency that has created jobs, but he’s trying to take credit anyway. Those jobs we’re created because the pandemic is over, nor because Biden’s administration did something. It’s because of how the math was done to come up with the data, and because people are forced to take shitty jobs because Biden did not extend unemployment benefits for millions of people who need it.
It’s also because the Biden administration decided they needed to hide the Covid new case data to convince people the pandemic was subsiding. So they sent home millions of at-home rapid test and the media pushed the administrations agenda forward by altering the message and convincing people to get rapid tests. The CDC even changed from 10 days quarantine to 5 days. All kinds of tricky wording and underhanded efforts just to get people to let down their guard and go back to work. The truth is that millions did got back to work, but not because of a shining mountain of goodness that injected wealth into the hands of the poor. It’s because corporations convinced Biden to sell the American people out and put them back to work at all costs.
These half truths and tricky doublespeaks do an injustice to citizens. When Trump was president he lied most of the time. He embellished and exaggerated and was called on it every day of his term as president. He enraged the world with his historic amount of complete lies and his calls for violence. But suddenly we have a different president that’s more subtle with the rhetoric and misleading tweets. Somehow nobody cares that we’re being lied to. People will continue to vote for this president despite knowing this.
The Pandemic Effect & Broke Americans
The pandemic saw a huge number of businesses close and historic unemployment. The truth is that, I hate saying this, but under the Trump administration more aid was given to those suffering during the pandemic than under Biden. Trump’s administration with congress enacted stimulus checks to the people, and launched unemployment assistance that injected hundreds of millions of dollars into the hands of regular people. Biden put an end to all that. No more stimulus. No more unemployment assistance. He ended instead of extended unemployment benefits.
And since then, people have been forced to find ways to survive without any help from the government. So it’s a no brainer why people are going back to work. Businesses, despite an ongoing pandemic, are forced to do what they can to stay open, hire, do business best they can. That’s an expected behavior when the government abandons the people and forces them to fend for themselves. Which is why there’s additional job openings and more people working. But it’s still not a good job market by any rational measure.
The Government, the President, and Congress are Failing to Act
Biden is ignoring his promise to give students loan relief or forgiveness. He’s not planning to extend the payment moratorium either. Biden’s lack of action is akin to the worst republican agendas.
If you do your own math and look at the BLS data, you’ll see a gap in the number of working age people and those actually employed. Those are the uncounted tens of millions of people.
If the economy is going so great, why are there tents under every bridge and lining every freeway and industrial park?
If there are so many new jobs, why do 9 million applicants get rejected to jobs that remain unfilled — positions that seem to be phantom jobs?
Last week it was reported that corporations managed to obtain a gigantic 35% increase in profits in 2021 — during a raging pandemic — when they complained all year about not being able to find staff and they were supposedly having supply chain issues forcing them to increase prices.
Meanwhile, many democrats will read this and disagree because they have been brainwashed to vote blue no matter who. They cling to their cognitive dissonance and their political conditioning. And they refuse to learn any new facts because they believe in the fantasy they’ve been sold. Sadly, our current miserable circumstance is largely due to their vote of confidence in a corrupt system for a corrupt political party, and corrupt candidates.
The White House tweeted that the president is ‘doing everything in his power to lower costs at home’. Most rational intelligent people know this is false. For example, Biden could immediately extend several moratoriums that would stop evictions and put off student loan payments. But he refuses to do those things. Biden could extend unemployment benefits to independent gig workers and extend Federal Enhanced Assistance, but he doesn’t. Biden could eliminate student debt — but refuses. Biden could work with congress to get stimulus checks out to people due to the rising cost of inflation, housing and gas prices. But he doesn’t. Neither are most democrats doing any of these things (zero republicans are trying to help in any of these areas).
That’s a lot of stuff to take in. I’m struggling to see how people can vote for candidates who lie in a party that lies. Both the republicans and democrats lie, so why vote for them?
