Dear Hillary Clinton,
Gerard Mclean here, from Englewood, Ohio, just north of Dayton. There were 100 days from your nomination to election, so I’m writing you 100 letters. This is the forty-fourth letter. The others can be found in your USPS mailbox or online at 100HRC.com
I spoke to my daughter yesterday about her recent job search. She has a college degree from Wright State University and zero student loan debt. She is incredibly gifted with people, a brilliant writer, a clear thinker and just all around wicked smart with a lot of practical business skills she learned working for my company during college (in addition to other places.)
She was employed with a marketing company and most recently with a tech recruiting company that was less than forthright about the type of position it was. We can chat about that at another time. (Or you can during a job interview. You should call her; she would be an incredible asset on your team.)
In her current job search, she is getting a ton of interviews, but here’s the rub; all of them are targeting young people under twenty-seven who they believe are covered under their parent’s health insurance. None of the jobs offer health insurance.
In short, not only is Anthem BC/BS of Ohio expecting me to shore up their profits by increasing my premiums 29% but the other corporations “creating jobs” also expect me to shore up their profits by skimping on benefits for young employees.
We need UniversalCare, SinglePayer, MedicareForAll. We are being crushed alive out here and our backs are breaking.
