Orgasm Retreats, Vaginal Weights, and Sex Buffets— A Look Into The World of Sex Travel
Every holiday has a happy ending

It has been a while since I have booked a holiday, because, you know, COVID but it seems things have changed since I last looked at a travel brochure.
As I perused my news website's travel section for inspiration, the headline screamed out to me — Bali Orgasm Retreat. Now I am always up for travel porn — you know the photos you see on Instagram of ridiculous hotel pools and stunning mountains and beautiful vistas, but this is next-level travel porn.
I had to find out what the hell an orgasm retreat was, which led me down a travel sex rabbit hole from which I may never recover. Travel sex rabbit hole — hmm, that would make a good name for a movie. But I digress, time to look at the world of sex travel.
Putting the O in Holiday
The WTO (World Tourism Organization) defines sex tourism as “trips organized from within the tourism sector, or from outside this sector but using its structures and networks, with the primary purpose of effecting a commercial sexual relationship by the tourist with residents at the destination.”
Now, this can lead you down a very shady path. I have been to Thailand many times and, unfortunately, have seen some illegal and immoral activities going on. 66% of my fellow Aussies intend to have sex when visiting Thailand. Obviously, not all of this is with illegal prostitutes or minors, but unfortunately, too much of it is.
This article isn’t looking at that sort of sex travel where locals are taken advantage of, but rather legitimate options for people who want to base their travel around sex. Because as the world opens up, its people will also open up, so to speak.
So let’s start with the Bali Orgasm retreat that piqued my initial curiosity. The four-day Big O retreat was put together by an Australian man, Andrew Barnes, who is described as a “facilitator of Tantric sexuality and relationship retreats around the world.” Across the four days, guests were promised a Tantric full-body energy orgasm retreat.
Unfortunately for Barnes and would-be Tantric orgasmers, the hotel manager got cold feet and canceled the retreat after receiving criticism and backlash on social media.
While the retreat does sound intriguing, there seemed little interest in the experience. Only six guests had registered when the retreat was canceled.
Adults only resorts — pure hedonism
Far more popular are the adults-only resorts around the world.
Perhaps the most famous is Hedonism II, located in Negril, Jamaica which has the tagline “be wicked for a week.” They certainly don’t try and hide what guests will experience at the resort. They have special-themed parties, swingers' playrooms and openly encourage guests to have sex with each other wherever they want. The hotel gift shop is full of sex toys.
“Hey, mom, look at what I brought you back from Jamaica!”
A quick look at the TripAdvisor reviews certainly gives a little insight into what to expect.
“Most everyone is naked 22 hours a day, or everyone is having sex,” Jim K, Wilmington.
“On our first visit to the Romp Shop, we discovered that a small BDSM room and among other items there was a heavy-duty full-blown sex swing” Beachlife, Dallas.
Although not everyone has fun, like this poor guy.
“Absolutely gross, dead-eyed couples pretending love is having sex with other people, pretending they care. So many romantic stories about people finding love there, but what about the people they came with?!!! Gross, heartbroken. Went as a couple, left single.” Sherpa (who I assume is now working on his Tinder profile).
I could spend all day reading the TripAdvisor reviews for this place. One thing I did learn is that most of the people attending this resort are over fifty. Several younger people mentioned the average of the guests. Perhaps with age comes the willingness to try new things like sex travel.
The owner of Hedonism, Harry Lange, does point out it isn't a resort only for swingers. “We think about a third of the guests would identify as swingers, a third could be exhibitionists or voyeurs, and a third are not — they are more nudists who want to get overall tans.” Just make sure you bring your sunscreen — there would be nothing worse than sunburned genitals.
There are plenty of other adults-only resorts offering a combination of beautiful beaches, resort facilities, and sex buffets. And of course, what holiday is complete without a visit to the day spa. The spa at Desire Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico has a “Fantasy Menu,” which includes sex on the beach, bondage fantasy, and a professional sex tape session.
This would make the traditional post-holiday slide night’ a little more entertaining for guests.
Sex island
The ironically named Good Girl Company organizes long weekend holiday events aimed squarely at the single male market. Their events promise guests “unlimited sex” with escorts as well as all the booze they want. In 2019 they held their event on an island in the Caribbean where all guests could preselect two women from a catalog. Due to COVID, the 2020 event was moved to Nevada.
Interestingly the event was targeted not for sex but for drugs. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued a warning prior to the event to organizers threatening arrests and deporting any guests breaching drug laws.

A look at the website of the event gives a good idea of what to expect. From the promo screenshotted above to the ridiculously cheesy promo video (their first video was banned on YouTube for being X-rated), they promise horny young men one thing — SEX! The fact that it is with a lot of prostitutes is irrelevant.
The problem I found with searching for information on Sex Island is that Google kept directing me to Jeffrey Epstein's articles, so I had to move on quickly.
Be coached by a vaginal weight lifter
Even though the orgasm retreat was canceled, there are other options like the ones offered by Kim Amani. She is a sex and relationship coach, surfer, and vaginal weight lifter, that offers retreats in Mexico and Bali.
Over the six days, Kim promises orgasmic enlightenment and life-shifting sex. She also offers vaginal weight-lifting tutorials and exercises to reconnect to sexual power. Her next retreat promises “eight couples and a handful of adventurous singles …for six days of sensual exploration, sexual mastery, heart-opening lessons, erotic inspiration + wild exhilaration.”
At $12,000 a couple, it isn't cheap for six nights, but I guess the promises of unlocking your sexual potential don't come cheap.
Fuck for luck?
If you thought there was a lot of sex at Coachella, that festival has nothing on the Pon Festival held in Java, Indonesia.
Pon (which seems to be missing the letter R in it) sees revelers hike up Gunung Kemukus, a hilltop shrine. Once at the shrine, they partake in a holy ceremony to ensure good luck and fortune by having sex with a complete stranger. Even if you are in a committed relationship, your fortune depends on having ritualistic nighttime sex with strangers. The sex is done out in the open, and the mountain is littered with strangers fornicating for fortune.
For those who want to mix religion (of sorts) with sex, this could be an interesting experience.
There is a whole world to SEXplore
If you want to combine sex with a holiday, there are seemingly endless options. Couples retreats, swingers resorts, islands of sex, and festivals abound. And unfortunately, so do the more lurid and illegal activities that occur.
I worked in Travel Marketing for years and travel has become less about visiting museums and galleries and more about experiences. And there are few experiences that can rival sexual mastery.
So as travel returns to people's agenda in 2021 and sexploration will be on the agenda for many. Just remember to check TripAdvisor for reviews beforehand — you don't want to end up like poor Sherpa.
