Thank you kindly 🙏🏽Nine months ago, no one could have guessed that AI was about to change the world. Then, here we are in August 2023 where it’s everywhere and what the say goes: “AI is here to stay.”
Launched on November 30, 2022, ChatGPT was just an experimental free service that took a big turn and attracted a Billion Company Microsoft to invest not less than $10 Billion in it.
In February 2023, the makers of ChatGPT launched a premium service, ChatGPT Plus, that costs $20 a month to generate profit from their service.
Today, OpenAI has unveiled the debut of ChatGPT Enterprise, an upgraded and refined iteration of ChatGPT. We are witnessing its transition from an experimental free service to a commercial one.
This special version is designed for businesses and comes with stronger security, more privacy, and group account management features.
It also includes extended context windows for processing longer texts, and encryption.
Let’s look at what it offers closely!
First, enhanced security and privacy are designed for enterprises. OpenAI assures that businesses will retain full control over their data while avoiding any training related to business-specific discussions.
All interactions are safeguarded through encryption, and the platform is compliant with System and Organization Controls, a privacy standard certified by Certified Public Accountants.
But, if you’re using the free or Plus versions of ChatGPT, your questions might help train OpenAI’s AI.
Furthermore, with the Enterprise version, all your conversations are encrypted during transit (thanks to something called Transport Layer Security) and also when they’re stored (using Advanced Encryption Standard).
Also, the new admin console allows you to efficiently manage your team members and it comes with some other useful tools.
It boasts quicker response times, potentially twice as fast as before. It can also handle longer inputs and files with up to 32K tokens. In practical terms, this translates to the ability to input queries up to four times larger than previously.
There are no limits on how much you can use it either. And it’s powered by the latest large language model, GPT-4.
And there’s more, it gives you special tools to analyze data. If you want to build things using ChatGPT, which you probably do, it comes with ready-to-use chat templates.
These can help you with common tasks at work. And, if you’re good with programming, you also get free credits to create your own custom AI programs using OpenAI’s tools.
This new enterprise version is made to meet the growing need for a helpful AI at work, and of course, to generate profits.
But here’s the thing: even though ChatGPT has millions of users and its limited commercial release (ChatGPT Plus), OpenAI still needs to make money for its investors — right? Notably, Microsoft has invested billions! And in April, they got $300 million from selling shares, with money coming from companies like Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
Final words
It seems pretty likely that companies will want to use it. OpenAI states companies like The Estée Lauder Companies, PwC, and Zapier are already leveraging “ChatGPT to formulate clearer communications, expedite coding tasks, aid in creative tasks, and more.”
The Bottom Line
OpenAI has not unveiled pricing details. While the service is accessible as of today, acquiring the price for your company necessitates a conversation with a sales representative. We’re all intrigued to know the pricing details. So if you’re planning to use it, be nice to share how much you’ll be willing to pay. Thank you for reading!
