One trick to increase your self-confidence
Set up a timeline

According to Dr. Joe Rubino, author of several books on the topic of self-esteem, 85% of the world’s population is affected by self-esteem issues. Self-esteem is deeply linked with self-confidence and self-efficacy, which means that many people don’t have a lot of trust in themselves.
One of the ways your mind determines the level of your self-efficacy is through the success of past experiences. Failures of the past can dramatically decrease the trust in your abilities.
Suffering from this can be crippling, mainly because it sabotages your efforts to redeem yourself. A way to handle this issue is to provide you with a realistic opportunity to do better.
Setting up a timeline for your success
Given your past failures, it might be close to impossible to believe that you might be able to handle similar things in the future.
To stop the doubting, you have to exert willpower which is a finite resource. The more you use it, the harder it is to control your fears from creeping in.
The way to handle this is by setting up a short timeline, let’s say a week, where you have a realistic and achievable goal. A smaller timeframe could be more manageable, and if you succeed, you will be able to start gaining some confidence in the process.
A compounding effect over time
The small wins that will emerge through the repeated usage of this method can help you rebuild your self-confidence and help you with your self-esteem.
While setting your goals, you have to know yourself and be humble. If you are in a low place and you can barely imagine doing anything, the smallest goal you can imagine is still a good target for you.
You must start to win. Even if it may seem that the wins are insignificant in the begging, doing this over time will lead to achieving bigger and bigger goals, and you will find yourself on a direct path to achieving your dreams.
To recap these steps, to build or rebuild your self-confidence, you need:
- A small timeframe where you set up a goal for yourself
- The size of your goal depends on your situation, but it should be something you can handle. It doesn’t matter how small it is. You can increase it with time.
You can start believing once more in yourself if you choose a small enough timeframe such that your willpower can defend you against your fears.
Stop postponing your success, and start crushing your goals
