One Single Chopstick

a meme micropoem

one chopstick, one tofu,

single-handedly stirring shit up.

There’s this Cantonese saying [一隻筷子食豆腐] that quite literally means “one chopstick to eat tofu”, but figuratively means “things falling apart” [搞爛晒]. Sometimes metaphors like this give such a visceral and visual reminder of what I’m going through. When I do something dumb that pushes into a domino effect of mistakes, this tofu falling apart as I try harder to use one (1) chopstick to eat it comes to mind.

Tagging Elle Beau ❇︎ | Radhika Ghose| Lori Welch Brown | Jen Kleinknecht | Somsubhra Banerjee | Anjali Samaraweera | Mary Keating | Isha Tewari Srivastava if you’re up to it and anyone else interested in today’s prompt: things falling apart.

How to join: include the original post of the person who tagged you for reference and tag 5–10 other people (or simply ‘tag all’) who might be interested in this prompt! (Ps, there’s no deadline!)

Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) also wants to specify that we’re envisioning silken (soft) tofu here, the one that has the consistency of Jello. Why? Because firm tofu could probably be skewered with precision to be roasted over fire… or something.

Hop down the rabbit hole? 🐰🕳
