One Simple Way to Gain Followers That You Need to Know

An old trick that new writers need to know

You’re busy writing because you like it, you’re doing this to make money, or you’re writing to increase your list of followers. This is one thing you need to do to increase your number of followers. I set aside time in my schedule to do this.

These are some things I don’t do as a writer:

  • I don’t ask writers to follow me back.
  • I never ask writers to follow me.

To me, it makes it seem like you’re begging for followers. You don’t need to do that. There is a better way which makes you seem like a true writer.

As long as you write, people will follow you or they won’t. You don’t need to beg for others to follow you. If you’re a good writer, people will follow you.

People will follow you by what you write and produce. Asking people to follow you could be asking for dead followers to add to your number count. This really won’t do anything for you.

The one thing I do is respond back to their comments. This may seem trivial but it is something you need to do. They don’t want to see you like a robot who is only doing one thing. Your readers what to hear more from you. They want to know more about you, who is this person writing?

When you ask people to follow you or you do a follow for follow, they may follow you back out of courtesy. The follower may also never read your work. After some time, they’ll say, why am I following this person? Then they’ll eventually unsubscribe from you.

Take the extra step and respond to their comments. If they ask a question, answer them back. Your reader will learn more about you. This is what you need to do to build true fans.
