One Simple Trick I Use Where You Can Double Your Views By Writing Less
The art is not in how much you write.

I have written a lot and recently started to write less. You would think your views would decrease over time. For me, the opposite happened.
As a writer, I have written a lot over the past two years. At one point I was writing every single day, Sunday to Sunday, and not skipping a day for a year.
I was dedicated and experimenting to see what worked, didn’t work, and also befriending a lot of other writers.
After a year or so, I was tired. Mentally, I was exhausted and close to burnout. So I had to make a change.
As a writer, you should not be afraid to experiment or make changes in your routine. In fact, you should welcome the changes. You don’t need to be stubborn but make changes when needed. You could end up as your own worst enemy.
All the writing paid off for me. This allowed me to moonlight and pick up other writing jobs.
When I did this, I had to slightly adjust my writing time. Plus, my routine outside of writing kept me away from my computer more and more.
Over the past few months, my writing routine has shifted almost daily. Last year, I was writing about the same time, day, and in the same seat typing away.
This year, my writing routine has changed every other day.
From taking my kid to school to working out at the gym, to taking my mom to doctor appointments and half a dozen other events kept me from writing.
Plus some days I needed a mental break. I stopped writing as much on the weekends. Then I stopped focusing on this platform and was concentrating on others that paid me more.
If a company paid you more to write, you would work with them too.
When your schedule shifts, your writing output also changes
Some weeks, I was competing to write for three or four different companies as well as my other daily requirements. My writing slowed down on this platform.
After seeing 11,871 views in September and then dropping to 9,873 in October, I thought my numbers were going to continue to decline further because I was publishing less.
In November, I published five articles for the month. For me, that is very low.
Naturally, you would assume your numbers would drop and your views would go down.
Checking my views today, they jumped to 16,089 views. I am surprised since some days I don’t publish anything but the views continue to go higher.
What I saw jumped right out at me
As I scan what articles are attracting readers, I see two articles stand out.
Both of these articles are on cryptocurrencies.
One article was the best cryptocurrencies you can buy for $500. The second one was Tom Brady trading his 600th touchdown football for a Bitcoin.
The best cryptocurrencies article has 1.94 K views and the Tom Brady article has 5.5 K views. Both were published over the past three weeks.
These two articles have kept my views up despite publishing less this month.
One step so you can copy my routine
You don’t have to write cryptocurrency articles but you should do this instead.
If you want to increase your views, you need to know what your readers’ read. This means you need to analyze your own work. See what articles have done well.
As a new writer, you won’t know. You don’t have the data to do the analysis.
But a writer who has written over 100, 200, or more articles will have a better idea.
You need to adjust your analytics to see which were your top articles.
To see your results, you need to put in the time. The extra work will pay off.
Set aside some time to do your analysis. You might need 30 minutes to an hour or more. This time you put into analyzing your work will be well worth it.
Figuring out your top articles will help you identify what you should concentrate on as a writer. You want to write what your readers want.
Experimenting is fine if you want to expand your reach as a writer. There is nothing wrong with that.
Personally, I would not forget about your bread and butter articles that do well for you and for your readers. Don’t forget about your readers who keep you excited to write again and again.
You need to put in the work. It’s not only about writing day after day.
There needs to be part of your time where you do the analysis. This happens when you are the writer, editor, and publisher of your own work.
No one will do this for you. You have to do this for yourself.
Do you know what articles you write which your readers like to read?
Feel free to support my work by becoming a Medium member for $5 a month. I may earn a small percentage and you get to read all the articles on this platform when you join here.
