One Second
A poem
Like a quiet hunter
As calming
and disarming
as the most gentle doctor
or warrior
of love
he persuaded her
to ease her
guarded heart
priming to crack open the gate
stick a middle finger to fate
creep into her
secret garden
of Freudian
jaded jealous
affections
he hovers on the edge
at the door
clings to a ledge
a centimeter
away
from the cliff
Then
For One Second
Time Frozen
Wonder
Ecstasy
Promise of
Oozing Beauty,
For One Second
Sex Beckons.
She breathes in
he breathes in
sex breathes out
flouting her perfume of magic and doom
enough of a second for another to follow
and reason to resume
to think of tomorrow.
She snaps
He gasps
As she falls back into her mold;
Can’t read that face like stone
And again he’s alone.
For One Second,
Time Frozen
Wonder
Ecstasy
Promise of
Oozing Beauty,
For One Second
Life Happens.
