One of the Best Wedding Invitation Card I Was Attracted To

I saw that card in one of our drawers yesterday. I was mesmerized to recall how amazed I was when I saw that card back 15 years ago as a little girl.

The card is still at our home and is been used. Yes, the card is usable though some pages have turned a bit old. I guess every home still has that wedding card.

Do you have a wedding invitation card of someone at your home in some safe closet and is been utilized?

I guess the answer would be No. Because even at my home the card always goes in the trash once we attend the wedding. This is the only card left even after 15 years of their marriage. Now, they have a wonderful daughter.

Do you have any guesses? What it would be?

I loved their idea. I want to start with a story. It was the wedding of my cousin back in 2005. At that time India was a country where mobile phones were not present with everyone. Mobiles were not a basic need back then. Every common person could not afford their own mobile but every home used to have a landline telephone number.

Yes, a communication number where every home used to have a conversation together. All would come together one-by-one and used to talk with their loved ones. It was a sort of meet up of every home.

Did you get the clue what the card was about?

I will say it. It was a booklet of all the landline telephone numbers who were invited to the wedding. It was 10 pages booklet with dialing code and telephone numbers of every city and country which were called to attend the wedding ceremony and give blessings to the couples.

The attraction of the first page of the card

The Booklet cover consisted of the name of the bride and groom and the picture of the village where the wedding was held. I loved the idea of capturing the village image and put on the first page. It was an eye-catching and a nice concept.

But I have utilized the first page. Yeah, there was a project in my school in my 3rd or 4th grade and we have to write about our village. So I cut that view of my village and used it in my project. My teacher was very impressed with that idea and I was happy too as my teacher loved it.

The picture below is a card from 2005 where I have used half part of the cover for my project. It was a basic printed card and not a high five one but the pages serve the importance at every home even today.

In the above picture, you can see that the back of the first page consists of the venue and the date of the wedding, which is 15th May 2005, and the rest I have cut it for my project. It’s a bit torn but still has great importance.

The importance of the pages in the booklet

15 years ago, every home used to have a normal diary where landline numbers were written of the loved ones. As it was the way to recall and dial the number to contact each other.

People back then used to utilize their minds very sharply, as everyone has to remember the common numbers of loved ones to dial. As we didn’t have a mobile to search directly in the contact list and dial easily.

I remembered my Mother used to remember so many telephone numbers by heart. As a little girl, I used to ask:

Me: Mamma, what is my friend's number?

Mamma, In a minute, used to reply to every number I used to ask.

It was a time when people were not so busy with the internet world and used to utilize many of the powers of the body.

The below image consists of the first page of the booklet where many landline numbers are written but now many of the homes don’t have a landline telephone as everyone has a smartphone now.

And the first booklet page of the card also consisted of the important phone numbers of Doctors and the basic phone numbers everyone needed like — Cable TV operators, School, police station, post office, bank numbers, etc. This created one of the best attractions.

The card was very usable in that era, but even now many homes have kept that card in one of the drawers of their house as it still has some value because some homes and numbers are still the same.

You can see there are only landline numbers with their Dialing code(STD code) based on its places.

I loved the concept of their card. It was something very meaningful. It has a purpose that has served every individual. They gave something unique to society as everyone is still cherishing that piece of card.

So do something unique at your upcoming wedding card. Give back to society something by giving a little piece of yours so they can treasure and admire it whole their life.
