One more follower to 1,000 Followers on Medium
Reflecting on My Medium Journey and the Lessons and Experiences Learned in the First Month

As I sat there contemplating what to write, I saw a notification on Medium that said, “Martin Morrison + 7 others started following you about 1 hour ago.” This was encouraging news for me, especially since it showed that I only need one more follower to reach 1,000 on the platform. I had the inspiration to write this article right now, sharing my experiences from my first month on Medium.
In this topic, I’ll discuss the most insightful experiences that have led me to this point. I’m confident that I would have progressed more quickly on this journey if I had known these instructions from the beginning. As a group of friends who began writing on Medium simultaneously, our diverse performances on the platform have taught us far more than an individual writer would.
Among my friends, I have the most followers, with approximately 26 posts in one month, which equates to one post per day. My posts begin with a true story from my early years, and it has received the most likes (1500+), engagement, and income of any of my posts to date. With 95 views and 48 reads, it has reached $11.78, or an average of $0.13 per view plus read.

After my first story, I have another one about My Job-My Life, which isn’t the most engaging but brings in the most money. This is my second post in the income range, with 18 reads and 31 views, bringing in $6. It generates an average of $0.19 per view plus read, which is higher than my first post. This discrepancy taught me that articles have a higher earning rate than stories do, including information about income-related topics like work or employment-related issues.

Another story I have is AI vs. Human, which has the second-highest engagement but the fourth-highest income. Its income rate is $0.08 per view and read. According to what I’ve read in the majority of the articles, the income is determined by no unique algorithm. because every algorithm we propose will be rejected by a different one. However, it’s important to note that publishing content frequently—ideally, several times a day—is one of the key components of making a lot of money.

As I said, the main key to earning a lot is posting several daily. It has been proven to me that some days I posted two or three posts, and tomorrow I had an increase of $7 in total.
Amidst all of these happenings, I also had an unexpected day that highlighted the significance of maintaining relationships with other authors and readers. Since Fridays are holidays in this country, I chose to rest instead of writing an article, but I still made the decision to read some and leave comments on others’ articles. Even though I didn’t write a single article that day, I did have an increase of +6 the next day. This made me realize how important it is to stay involved in the writing community, support other writers, and take criticism to improve your work. By doing these things, the community will develop and gain experience.
To briefly summarize the most important factors:
- Write every day, preferably multiple posts per day. To post multiple times a day, you must identify a niche that you can write about without becoming fatigued.
- carefully read the articles of others, leave comments, and, in return, accept advice from them.
- Since your followers are the primary source of your posts’ high engagement rate, try reading and commenting on their articles to draw them to your profile and build a close relationship with them.
- As a personal suggestion, try to read the articles the medium provides as daily reading. Reading them has a significant score compared to what we choose to read.
- Additionally, keep in mind that everyone can learn from their own experiences and use that knowledge to improve their writing. Understand that everything you learn on your journey can be a valuable lesson.
- Never give up and keep trying.
In conclusion, the journey on Medium underscores the importance of daily posting, active engagement with the writing community, and careful selection of a niche aligned with personal interests. Consistent posting not only maintains reader engagement but also contributes to steady growth and income. Moreover, fostering connections with fellow writers through thoughtful interactions and feedback cultivates a supportive environment conducive to learning and improvement. By identifying a niche that resonates with one’s passions and expertise, writers can sustain their creativity and attract a loyal audience. Embracing these practices not only enhances visibility and engagement but also fosters a fulfilling and rewarding experience on the platform.
