One Man Walking
An Upside-down Poem
Reverse poetry is a poem that can be read forwards (top to bottom) and have one meaning but can also be read backward (bottom to top) and have a different or opposite meaning. The structure of the reverse poem is often the same.

One Man Walking In a Blizzard On a Quiet City street No Vehicles, No people, In Ragged Levis, A Red Heavy-Canvas Short Coat, With Cool Yellow Slush boots, He Walks Alone
In the Deep Ebony Night It is Quiet Ahead of Me Cold Wind, Snow Chilled to the Bone He steps, Steadfast, With a Mission In Silence
We Walk Sacredly Together, Visibly Alone Searching Knowledge, The Library of Wisdom, Within Us A Tedious Task The Streets are Winding, Dimly Lit
City Lights Between Us, Between Us I Say Hearts Flicker, Ice Pounds our Spirits, The Need to Know Souls Engulfed, Ancestral Knowledge Just Within Reach When Might the Storm End?
Some have been inquiring so…
For what it is worth- I do not know where my writing comes from- it just hits the page. No, I do not drink or do drugs. My life is and has always been clean. I did not even know a Reverse Poem was even a thing until I googled it after it was written. I live a simple life of service in teaching English and history to high school students. That being said, I laugh a lot.
My life is nothing elaborate or particularly noteworthy. These days I just try to listen more. I am in silence more than anytime previously. I am happy. I live in grace and gratitude. I make no money on Medium and Edit to learn and engage in that process. I have no time for drama or those that perpetuate that in others. I look for love, embrace loving/giving people and just try my best every day to assist others in this incredible journey.
Thanks for asking.
Sincerely, Brooklyn
