One Day
From one to the next

You commented on my smile one day And my eyes, hair and gown. I thanked you with a laugh and then My friend and I went on through town.
I ran into you again one day, You gave me the up and down. “I best be getting along,” I said, For your mind, it seemed unsound.
I saw you all alone one day Staring at me with that frown. I quickly walked away because It felt dangerous to stick around.
You said your dog needed help one day And for a dog were feelings profound. So I followed you to your truck, no dog, Then the world turned upside-down.
My name will come back to life one day When I’m finally recovered and found It’s going to be a while yet though ’Cause I’m hidden underground.
