Once Lost, Now Found

#15 of 31 days of May SCWBI Challenge — Free Verse

Follow the light — photo my own

Questioning sanity

Emotional agony

A wake up call

To stop the fall

Shrunk by expectations

Numb to sensations

Zombified

Unqualified

No more

Open a door

Shine a light

Observe the sight

A step to take

Heal the ache

More steps appear

Reveal the fear

Only I can face

Hypnotic space

Memories from the past

Remembered at last

Lost in subconscious mind

Consciousness was blind

New meaning found

Feet return to ground

Filters will remain

Energy will drain

Emotions will leak

Take another peak

A lifelong task

For the brave who ask

After writing this, I remembered recommending a Letter from Hunter S Thompson to Hume Logan. Sparked by a line of back and forth responses with Volo Vash on his article —

Short story long.. I believe my ending words were inspired from recently reading this letter —

Life affirming read if your eyes have not been graced with this wisdom before.

One last thing…Farnam Street — where this copy of the letter is housed, is filled with insightful treasures.

I am certain I could join more dots — but will leave the infinite ripples here.

Wait!

Apologies. I lied. There are more ripples. Ripples from sharing the SCWBI prompts include —

Saloni Joshi incredibly crafted piece

Rasheed Hooda will leave with a big smile of inspiration with his take on “escape”

Indra Raj Pathak

If I have missed any others that have been prompted by this challenge, I apologise…please give me a nudge and I will add them to the next prompt. At the conclusion of the challenge I will create an index to all the rippling treasures this prompt uncovered.

“Once Lost, Now Found” – today’s prompt from the 31 days of May challenge being run by SCBWI West (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) …if anybody feels like participating, join in as you please.
