On the Other Side of Fear Lies Freedom

“He who has overcome his fears will truly be free.” ― Aristotle

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” ― Nelson Mandela

Freedom is such a powerful weapon because once you realize how to truly accomplish this, the world will be yours. It took me a while to understand true freedom and I am still a work in progress. Consequently, on my journey to freedom, I am discovering more and more each day.

“He who has overcome his fears will truly be free.” ― Aristotle

In order to be free, you must overcome all obstacles that stand in your way, including yourself. Most of those obstacles live in your own mind and it’s up to you to decide to free yourself of them.

You question your actions out of fear and self-doubt, you shy away from your opinions. This is suffocating, I know this for a fact. When you realize that once you free your mind and get over all your fears, you will truly be liberated.

I am on a journey to freeing myself of all the bondages that have kept me “hidden” for years. I am finally expressing myself with words, a talent that I kept to myself out of fear of being rejected.

I was an Accountant, and my world was driven by numbers, but I am finding that words fill my spirit more. Being an Accountant meant a stable job for the rest of my career; being a writer means freeing my mind and expressing my true desires. I prefer to express myself with words because I overcame my fears and found my freedom. My hope is that you find yours.

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

You can’t be free without making mistakes because we are not perfect. As humans, we have to fall a few times before we get it right.

Just like the time as a kid when I first learned how to ride a bike. I fell many times and I have the scars that lingered to prove it. But, as I rode on and practiced more, I got better and became great at riding my bike. The same principle applies to freedom. You have to fall a few times, suffer some bruises, and learn from those mistakes. It shows growth and that growth will lead you to discovering your true voice and will help you along the way.

I reject the notion of canceling or disqualifying someone for their thoughts or mistakes. We have to give each other the opportunity to learn and grow from our mistakes and not stifle each other’s freedoms. My mom didn’t cancel me for the mistakes that I made as a teenager, so let’s stop cancelling each other.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” ― Nelson Mandela

I believe that with freedom you have great responsibilities to others around you. I think our freedoms should be paired with showing respect to our fellow woman/man.

Hate speech is freedom and those who spew it have every right to do so. But how is that serving a purpose for humanity? The hate that is spewed is not igniting any positivity in us.

As humans, if we are more careful with our words, we would be much better at life. Words are energy and can evoke the same energy in someone else whether those words are positive or negative. We are creatures born with love, but some people choose to reject that. What if everyone decided one day that love and respect was the answer to solving all the world’s problems. Social Media would have to fall back and adapt to that change in frequency. Freedom would look so different and would be expressed in a more positive and respectful way.

On the other side of fear lies freedom. I can’t find the owner of this particular quote, but it resonates with me on so many levels. We are all born with certain freedoms, but unfortunately, as we navigate through life, they get stripped away. Sometimes knowingly and other times unknowingly. The good news is, we can fix some of those wrongs by reclaiming our own freedom.

How do we reclaim our freedom?

By overcoming our fears. Emancipating our minds, make mistakes but grow from them, as we go along. In the process of finding our freedom, we should respect our fellow humans. Allow others to have their opinions and to have their freedoms too.

The world would be a better place.
