The Heart Never Gets Full

I can choose to live

in the safe and familiar context

a life in the normal format

without major challenges

It is convenient

and rather harmless

and it can give me

peace and a calm mind

I can also choose

to live further out

to live on the edge

of the safe and familiar

It can be an advantage sometimes

for those who want more

but it requires effort

and a wakeful look

When I take that choice

and live on the edge

I meet challenges

from the world and from myself

Every day and every hour

I have to think through

what I want and

what I am doing
