On Medium, The Thing About Me Is…

What You’ll Get From Me As A Reader, Follower, and Writer

On Medium, the thing about me is…

As a reader or follower, you’ll get meaningful engagement and often lengthy comments. The 30-second rule is not a big deal to me because although I’m a speedy reader, it takes me a few seconds to highlight some excerpts, hold that clap button, and write a comment specific to your story. In almost every situation, I’m likely to be on a story for more than 30 seconds. For shorter stories such as poetry, I mindfully decrease my read and scrolling speed.

On Medium, the thing about me is…

As a writer, you’ll get a few different kinds of stories but will consistently get honesty and usually life lessons. Stories will be 2–4 minutes long — I consider myself an efficient writer in that I don’t write much beyond what I feel is necessary. Maybe this is the minimalist in me or perhaps I have a short attention span so can only stay on a subject for so long.

My profile includes uplifting stories about how to find more happiness, peace, and wealth, reflections on my Medium journey, writing prompts, responses to prompts, personal finance things, life lessons, a few poems and a tiny bit of fiction.

I’m not an expert of anything or professionally trained in the subject matter that I tackle. I share experiences and learnings from decades of living life. By embracing intentionality and minimalism, I have found more happiness and wealth. I am simply sharing this journey through my writing.

On Medium, the thing about me is…

I’m slightly obsessed. I spend way too much time on this app. I constantly check my notifications, respond to and clap for comments left on my stories, and reciprocate as much as possible. If the content is of particular interest to me, I’ll check out and engage with multiple stories from a writer. I’m always jotting down ideas for future stories and gaining inspiration from other stories.

I write a lot when creativity is flowing. If I’m not writing, I’m reading mostly from my For You and Following tabs. If feed stories aren’t appealing, I’ll go to my Following list and randomly click on writers/readers that support me and browse their new stories or maybe even old ones.

On Medium, the thing about me is…

I have no idea about the algorithm, don’t understand the stats and how they translate into earnings, and basically trial and error every effort in hopes of enjoying the experience while making some side money.

I’ve written stories about my highest earnings months and my best guesses about how to increase earnings but I’ve had good and bad months and have never had a story boosted.

On Medium, the thing about me is…

I’m mostly a happy, joyous writer. Although I’ll write something more emotional and deep sometimes, most of my stories are light and hopefully uplifting. I wish to spread kindness even to just one person through my stories. I want to bring positivity and hope to readers.

While I have a quasi-niche, the stories I read are more diverse. I read nonfiction, fiction, poetry, happy stories, sad stories, fun articles, serious articles, short pieces, longer pieces, stories by writers I’m familiar with, and stories by writers I’ve never heard of.

On Medium, the thing about me is…

I’m basically on here all day long sometimes reading, clapping, highlighting, commenting, writing, and
