On Being Able To Write Well
After all, it is the most underrated and least discussed superpower in the world.
People talk about being rich, strong, motivated, skilled, fit. But being able to write in a charming manner is a completely underdiscussed superpower.
A lot of people practice all of the above consistently, except for the latter, and stay terrible at it. Because they lack the practice of going back. Looking for past mistakes and consciously improving the weak spots is how you better yourself at anything.
Read and reread your stories and edit repeatedly. Move and replace, cut the excess and sew new intrigues. That’s how you become better at writing and anything in life for that matter.
Practice builds habits, yet analyzing past mistakes leads to mastery.
If you can’t get your story across compendiously and you can’t articulate your writing in a concise manner, then other readers won’t affiliate with your world view. That’s why most good writers go back and brush their message more than once.
At the end of the day, one of the writer’s superpower is thinking something and making somebody else think the same, or at least making them understand why you think the way you think. AI is and will be for a long time a useless tool when it comes to influencing readers.
