Old People May Need To Be Mourned in a Different Way
Although sadness is almost always a part of death
Sometimes death is a blessing
Although it is usually a very sad occasion when a person leaves this earth through death, it is not always a time of real mourning. Sometimes the person has found blessed relief from pain and sickness through death. Maybe they and you would be happy that they are in a better place.
Several close friends of mine have died in the past year or two. I am sad that they are gone and that I am no longer able to see them in this life. When I think of what they may have had to endure if they had lived longer, it seems to be a relief that they were able to pass on from this life.
There are many people living in nursing homes without family or friends around. They may have dementia and suffer from physical ailments. There are many who wish to leave this earth, but they must just wait until their time comes.
It is very sad and we mourn when a young person dies prematurely. When life is cut short through tragedy or a sudden illness, death is difficult at any age.
Some of my older friends who have passed away would not have wanted to live without their mind and body intact. Although many older people are still able to enjoy life while using canes and living in wheelchairs, it is not easy for many of the older generation. People who were especially active may find that type of life more difficult.
Mourning is part of the ritual of death, which will come to all people on the earth. Sometimes the mourning is coupled with a sense of relief and even some happiness that the person does not need to suffer in this life any longer.
