RICH LIFE

Oh Yes! I Got Some Personalised Art!

These artists have added luxury to my life

Custom art is… living the rich life even without the lottery win Source

Creativity involves so much magic.

All those thoughts firing off in the brain to produce a piece of artwork that sells for millions.

Not my art! I can’t draw for toffee. I did paint that cat in my profile picture, but no-one’s ever going to come along to steal that in the middle of the night. Good thing too because I haven’t insured it.

But I like art.

Not the way an expensive collector loves to hoard it! Not the way an interior designer loves to match it to the throw pillows!

My art fetish stops with good prints for my walls and searching high and low for good pictures to go with my stories.

Until this month, I’d never considered any personalised art.

But that’s all changed! I’ll be closing 2021 with two custom art pieces! One digital to display here and one original for my parent’s wall.

Preeti took my story Dear Pinned Articles, You’re Blocking Readers Getting Through and turned it into an illustration!

If you read the story, you’ll see how clever she’s been! She’s captured all the detail and presented it so even people who haven’t read the story can figure out the gist.

In fact, because it’s a picture, people will probably use all different parts of their brain and get a different experience than if they’d just read it.

I adore how Preeti has brought together all the elements of my story into one graphic that looks so simple but is actually so rich in detail.

Preeti’s picture is all about my story: Don’t block the path to the treasure of your profile with old pinned articles! People want to detect the treasure of you!

Art by Jessica Barnaby

Artwork by Jessica Barnaby

Jessica is a warm empathetic portrait artist who created a stunning piece of art from a handful of photos — a gift for my parent’s anniversary.

I can’t show it here because it’s private so I’ve posted one of her portfolio compilations instead.

Although I’m as old as the hills (young hills) and have been online since the Internet was born, there’s no photo of me on the internet! If I’m not putting myself online, I’m not putting my parents on either.

What I love about Jessica’s talent is how she’s added so much atmosphere and emotion to my portrait. It’s hard to explain without showing it, but she builds in little touches that call up memories in beautiful ways. Background objects, cherished jewelry, composition. Pretty sweet.

I’ll be picking it up this Friday and can’t wait.

This is the first time I’ve ever had a portrait commissioned (even saying it feels RICH!) and it’s been such a special experience.

Here’s Jessica’s website in case you’re looking to commission a portrait for your family or pet.

Creatives create creativity in creative ways

Preeti and Jessica create art in totally different ways.

I never thought about the creative differences between illustrators and portrait artists before.

Even though they’re both telling stories, they’re doing it for their own goals and in their own “voices.”

Cartoonists, card designers, book cover illustrators. Own goals, own voices.

If I put my mind to it, I could probably learn how to load paint on a paintbrush.

The harder part would be making that paintbrush touch my life.
