MOTHER NATURE
Oh, Deer!
I love seeing life in triplicate

We drew three-of-a-kind.
Our “triplets” snarf azaleas, but I just can’t run them off. Mom and her babes came around uninvited. Glad they did, though.
Mama Zen (she’s mysterious) first dropped a fawn by the big birch tree.
Left it the longest while. Trembling, perched awkwardly on stick-like legs.
Z started bringing the whole brood over. Pretty and definitive. What was ours was theirs, no takesie-backsies. Farewell, Encore Azaleas! Mama Z plans her own reprise.
If you speak baby-talk to critters — encouraging, never discouraging — they’ll move right in.
Moker says our deer friends will wreak havoc in our hood. But I think I need them here. Even though they wolf down more than weeds.
