Oh Covid

An ode to Covid 19

Oh, dearest Covid May I count you as my friend?

What are you here to teach us And where will your lessons end?

For so many I love Your touch has been brutal

Mask, social distancing, gloves Are they really more than futile?

All this time spent being apart A challenge pure and true

Could this be an opportunity to see All that we have taken for granted through you?

Your insidious gaze has undoubtedly left its mark

Many countries, many nations And perhaps most of all On every human heart

This simple poem is not meant to be divisive or spark any kind of a debate. It is my little girl inside asking questions quietly. She has one final question and whispers:

What is your gift?

To honor every single life taken by simply awakening to more deeply explore the truths of our connectedness on the incredible levels we have simply been to sleepy to understand before
