Of Flowers and Travels

A journey quatrain

Worlds I’ve seen are pressed flowers in my book, Warm earthy colors worth more than a look, A jewel to help write every story, Preserved in between pages of glory.

White tulip for the chaste snows of Norway, Five elegant petals, one mighty stem. An oath to safeguard mountains and fjords, A peaceful nation richer than a gem.

Now let me speak of a grand adventure, A green cluster plucked from an olive tree Brings me back to the waters I’ve paddled, The black sand beaches of Santorini.

How can I forget the pink Sakura? Under which we stood mesmerized and kissed. You were my cherry blossom from Japan, A fragrant bouquet though a short-lived gift.

My journal is plump but not yet complete, A rare Dragon’s Mouth or Middlemist Red, Perhaps one day will live in each pocket To be experienced and to be read.
