Ode to the Road

The wide-open spaces

I dream of the wide open spaces, A new day done my way, On my bike I explore wide and far, The perfect way to get away.

The soft subtle feel of the wheels, The road running under my feet, A surge of speed feeds a need, To make me feel complete.

And when it’s all over, my roll in the clover, I park the bike for the night, And rest my tired eyes and come down from the highs, Of out dancing in pure delight.

And then with renown, there’s another town, Another hill and valley to cross, I call it the ode to the road, Where I’m in charge and the boss.

It may be a track, in the outback, Or a weir I traverse in a splash, And a fall through the film of forests, I see when I roam and dash.

And when the journey is over, I dream of another one, The mode of the road, eases the load, A guaranteed way to have some fun.

I’m leaving the lines of traffic, Streamline is what I bless, And bask in the bliss of the morning air, To get me out of this mess.

An ode to the road is an easy rider, It lifts my spirits and washes away, A feeling that is so revealing, The perfect start to a Harley day.
